what does 5 + A Day mean?

The 5 + A Day programme encourages all New Zealanders
to eat and enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables.
5 + A Day is an easy way to remember the servings recommended per
day. Just look at your hand to remind you. For every finger we should
eat a serving of vegetables or fruit each day. A serving is about
a handful and is relative to age and size.
